Smooth-On's FOAM-iT! Series are versatile, easy-to-use, two-component water-blown rigid foams. Available in densities ranging from 3 to 26 lb. per cubic foot, these foams require equal parts A and B mixed by volume. After pouring into a mold or form (with a release agent), the mixture expands significantly, forming a uniform cell structure. FOAM-iT! 15 becomes tack-free in 4 to 6.5 minutes, gains handling strength in 20 minutes, and fully cures in 2 hours. These products can be used for straight casting, backfilling, encapsulation, and more. They can also be colored with SO-Strong, UVO, or IGNITE colorants, serving various art, craft, design, and special effects purposes.
- Maintain at room temperature (73F/23C) for storage and use
- Operate in a low humidity setting (under 50% RH)
- Mixing containers should have straight sides and a flat base
- Ensure molds are clean and made of metal, glass, or plastic
- Mix thoroughly for 45 seconds
- Stir rapidly, ensuring sides and bottom of container are scraped multiple times
- Foams cure swiftly; avoid delays between mixing and pouring
- Pour mixture at lowest point of containment field for best results
- Allow space for foam expansion to its full volume
- Let foam cure for at least 20 minutes before handling (FOAM-iT! 10 SLOW - 1 hour)
- Cure time varies based on mass and mold configuration
